Administered by The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), the Barro Colorado Nature Monument located in the tropical rainforest is the largest forested island in the Panama Canal waterway. Walk the trails that crisscross the otherwise unspoiled lowland humid forest that covers the island in search of both flora and fauna.
The whole scenic area is routinely patrolled by game wardens, which means that with protection, Barro Colorado Island remains as a gorgeous, natural resource for scientists and citizens from Panama and around the world.

Early in the morning (6:00 a.m pick up time ) you will be picked up at the lobby of your hotel by a Panama Explorers naturalist guide to be transfered to the STRI dock at the town of Gamboa.
